Backpacking @ Red Pine Lake!

Jason has been out of school for 2 weeks so we have been doing a lot of fun things lately. Most recently we went backpacking up in the little cottonwood canyon, close to Salt Lake.

DAY 1 :We left on Wednesday morning and started our adventure up, literally! Jason kept telling me while we were hiking, "Remember it will all be worth it." We hiked a total of 7 miles, and went up in elevation 2,000 ft. It was a ton of fun! So we hiked to this lake called Red Pine Lake and we got there at about 1 in the afternoon and started setting up camp! By the time we found a good spot to camp and setting it up and hiking all day, we took like a 3 hour nap! when we woke up we made dinner and let me tell you the Mountain House backpacking dinners are not as bad as they look, that night we had teriyaki chicken and rice it was pretty good actually! And we of course roasted MALLOWS!

DAY 2 : The next morning we walked around the lake and checked out the beautiful sites! We got to see some strange animals. We saw wild chickens or maybe they were turkeys we still aren't sure. We saw little Pica's and a really strange looking cat/racoon, again we don't really know what it was. We saw a ton of fish jumping in the lake, and we were so mad that we didn't bring a fishing pole. We played a few rounds of Skip-bo which is our favorite card game. We mostly justed relaxed and enjoyed the beautiful environment we were in. We also attempted to get alittle clean as you can see in the pictures.

DAY 3: This was the end of our little backpacking excursion, and all I could think about was a nice juicy hamburger and fries. We woke up early and headed back down the mountain and we got down at about 10 am and then headed for some grub! We of course had to fill up with gas and pack up the car first and drive back to Provo, so we got some Burger's and fries for lunch! All in all it was so much fun and we both can't wait to do it again!
